Men's Style - Rest, play and work

The first edition of Men's Style Australia magazine to feature me as a contributor is now out. Page 44 of the summer edition (Cindy Crawford on the cover) features my story is on the trend of boutique getaways to offer all the convenience of the office, to appeal to the workaholics amongst us, or simply those who fancy a change of scenery during the week from the usual potted palms and motivational posters. There's also a small mention of an up-and-coming beer apprecaition society, The BeerMasons, wedged at the bottom of page 99. And of course a bunch of interesting featuers on fashion, the Mexican drug trade and Errol Flynn. I'm hoping to be doing a lot more for Men's Style next year - advertising recession willing ...

In case you'd been wondering ...

In case you'd been wondering why I'd been posting so infrequently before this weekend ... in truth I've been in Europe for the last 10 days, mostly to attend the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona (as a guest of Ericsson). It was a great event - the shift of so many networks to ever-faster forms of 3G networks is creating more and more opportunities for mobile content companies, and hence also for mobile advertising services companies that support them.

While in Barcelona I had the chance to delve into Vodafone's global mobile advertising initiatives and to find out a lot more about Google's eagerly-awaited open-source Android mobile handset platform, as well as having the chance to chat to Telstra CEO Sol Trujillo about everything from high-speed wireless networks to high-value remuneration packages .... That story should be running in Next (in The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald newspapers) on Tuesday ... I'll keep you posted as the rest come into print.

Out of the country
