Next - Chris Kettle wants to build an army
A few weeks ago I had a great chat to Chris Kettle, the driving force behind the online entertainment portal my247. Chris had just launched a global listing of more than 750,000 restaurants, bars and other entertainment venues covering Australia, the US and UK, accessible via mobile phone. You can read all about that in this article in The Age and Sydney Morning Herald newspapers.
What Chris is really hoping for is that users of his site will become its editors. With 750,000 venues, keeping it up to date would be impossible for Chris and his team. But with an army of active users, all wanting to submit reviews, opinions and general information, the task may become a lot easier. Imagine being able to use your phone to select a web page for a pub, only to read a post from 10 minutes earlier saying that there's a $10 cover price and the band is lousy ...
People have been talking for ages about a real-time web experience. If Kettle's idea takes off (I was going to say 'hits boiling point', but thankfully I changed my mind ...) we might be getting closer.
