Congratulations Anthill

A quick note of congratulations to my friend and publisher James Tuckerman, whose labour of love, the entrepreneur's magazine Australian Anthill, took out the Best Small Publisher category at the Bell Awards, for the second year in a row. The Bell Awards celebrate execllence in the field of business publishing. Anthill also collected a Highly Commended in the category for the Best Consumer Magazine Graphic Design category and was a finalist for Consumer Magazine of the Year. The fact that I write a column for Anthill of course in no way influences my opinions of the magazine ... Anyway, check out what all the fuss is about at www.australiananthill.com.

A busy few weeks

Apologies for the long delay in posting. The last two weeks have been remarkably busy in terms of both projects and travel. As always, I'll work to improve my diligence in future ...

Am writing this from the airport lounge in LA. Have been over here at attend the annual ANZA Technology Network conference and showcase, and later as a guest of Microsoft for a visit to that company's Silicon Valley facilities.

Both events were interesting in their own rights. This year's ANZA showcase - the fourth now held - had 26 innovative hitherto unknown Australian and NZ technology companies pitching to an audience of investor, business services providers, and fellow innovators. The quality was much tighter this year - testimony to organiser David Cannington's desire to raise the standards through more rigorous preparation and screening of invitees.

The Microsoft visit involved meetings with representatives from its partner, R&D and IPTV teams. All interesting subjects - expect to see bits and pieces written up as news over the next few weeks.
